STL- SLACO Economic Development Associate VISTA
SLACO’s mission is to improve the quality of life for the residents and stakeholders of neighborhoods of the St. Louis region through community-based initiatives, citizen empowerment, and neighborhood organizing, and building the resiliency of its community organizations membership. SLACO has been existence for over 40 years and reaches as a representative over 33% of the residents of the City of St. Louis.
Member Duties : The Economic Development Associate VISTA member will build the capacity of SLACO member neighborhood associations by developing and implementing home ownership classes and neighborhood association building techniques for our member neighborhoods in the City of St. Louis Missouri and East St. Louis, IL. As a result of the Economic Development Associate VISTA member’s service, affected member neighborhoods will organize to decrease poverty by becoming stronger and by implemented techniques that will enhance the opportunity to increase the stability of the neighborhood association. When the neighborhood association becomes stronger, poverty will be reduced through improved economic development opportunities.
