Dear Friends of SLACO:

Over the last year with the support of a grant from the Missouri Humanities Council, SLACO has collaborated with the Creative Exchange Lab (CEL), a local design nonprofit, to collect oral histories from stakeholders in neighborhoods that abut the Dr. Martin Luther King Drive in St. Louis.  In addition, we have created a website to house these interviews as well to annotate and map historic sites and notable people inside the corridor. The long-term goal of the project is to create a “walkway loop” to connect the sites from Downtown St. Louis to the Wellston Loop.  The ultimate objective is to use the cultural legacy (cultural assets) of the corridor in conjunction with design as a catalyst for sustainable and equitable economic development along MLK and in the abutting neighborhoods.

We are now ready to share the interviews and the website with the St. Louis community.  While SLACO and CEL will both eventually share the website URL on our respective organizational websites, we are making it public today: http://www.mlkstllegacycorridor.org.  We are quite happy with the finished product.

You should check it out and share it with whomever you think would find it interesting or helpful.  We would love to hear about your experience of the website. You can contact us at:  mlkcorridorstl@gmail.com. We hope you enjoy the interviews and the Cultural Memory Tour.

It has been an enjoyable endeavor.

Sincerely,

 Kevin
